What Others are saying about SALSA Aviation
I am a 60 year old privet pilot with over 200 hours.  I have always wanted to get a glider rating but never took the opportunity to fly one, until I ran into Dave White. Boy did he give me the opportunity.   You had better not say Fly to Dave and not be willing to get in right now.

I will also bet, that I will pay for your first lesson with Dave if you think you have a better glider instructor, because you don’t.
I can’t think of any CFI I have been so inspired with, I thought gliders would be a snap for an old pilot like me, and was I was wrong.

So if you are near San Antonio, go see Uncle Dave at Boerne Stage Airfield, you can’t go wrong.  I do and I am in Indiana. Check out the Apollo LSA too, it is awesome!

Dave, I am in love with the performance of the Lambada. I have flown self-launch sailplanes before, and came away with the feeling of a poor airplane combined with a poor glider – I expected the same of the Lambada. What I found was a precise flying and powerful airplane that also was an excellent glider, with more than adequate L/D and thermaling capability. The fit and finish is superior and I was amazed at the ability to actually carry baggage. JJ

 I Still cannot believe how light and smooth the stick forces are. When I moved the stick around, I thought that it must have been disconnected…but was amazed to see that the ailerons and elevator were actually moving. Jeff – an Air Venture 08 visitor at the LSA Mall

Like a rocket ship compared to other motor gliders - Says Tommy Marek, Houston Lambada owner

What an experience. Closest thing to a flying carpet I’ve seen. Incredible view, very clean lines, takeoff and landing very tight and sweet, power to get there, take somebody or something, AND turn it off an soar! A real head-turner. Jim M.

Absolutely outstanding aircraft! Beautiful design and easy to fly. Had a great time meeting with Dave White, (Best guy to represent The Lambada!). Thanks again for the airtime. (Pictures attached for you). Steve Dunk, Manager, Canyon Lake Airport

Of the various emails I've sent over the last few months asking questions, or for paid rides, etc from about every other glider/motor glider company, distributor, or school/dealer...I have had exactly 0 responses, until yours (SALSA Aviation both Dave and Rand) in mere hours. Keep up the good work! -Rick

A few comments by Dan Johnson, LSA expert, in his review of the Lambada in 2008:

 part airplane, part glider and it has the interchangeable wing tips to prove it.

 I stood at the wing tip and marveled at the complex wing with its multiple dihedral angles and compound dual taper.

 one sailplane pilot thought the gel coat finish of the Lambada is more like other sailplanes and much superior to work he's seen on composite power planes. Attention to detail like gaps and general smoothness is an obsession of sailplane pilots and designers, so getting high points for finish quality from one of these pilots is significant

 At close to 42 inches wide, the Lambada isn't as roomy as some LSA power planes, but it's still a couple of inches wider than a Cessna 172. All but the biggest occupants will fit easily

 Up to 120 pounds of luggage can be placed aft of the seats and you can also specify a special tube to accommodate snow skis or other long items that can reach back into the tail fuselage

 I fly out of a high density altitude airport," says Ted Grussing of Sedona, Arizona. "I seldom have a climb rate under 850 fpm with two persons on board and density altitude in the 9,000-foot range."

 Good control authority for crosswind landings. Very powerful air brake helps control approach. Excellent visibility on approach to landing. Energy retention is so extraordinary that you need to learn to use air brakes effectively. Short ground roll, takeoff or landing.

 You have to experience air brakes to comprehend the dramatic effect on glide performance they can exert. They also produce a clear sensation of deceleration…the Lambada is slowed to about a 7:1 glide, a huge drop from max L/D of 30…Each time we retracted the full-speed upper surface Schemp-Hirth spoilers, the Lambada reacted like someone had cut a tie-down line, shooting forward with restored energy.

 In the sailplane world, a motorglider is often considered a rich man's toy. A quarter million dollar Stemme motorglider is a gorgeous piece of work, but the Lambada is far more affordable for the rest of us.

 New importer gaining good marks from customers and others investigating the Lambada... Base prices at about $110,000 are low for a motor glider. Overall, a joyous machine to fly, power on or off.
